National Brush Day – November 1:

  • The goal of National Brush Day is to “reinforce the importance of children’s oral health and promote good tooth-brushing habits recommended by dental experts.” The day after Halloween is a great time for parents to make sure their kids brush their teeth for two minutes, twice a day, and to explain the benefits of good oral hygiene.
  • Host a “Candy Sweet Swap”
    • Have kids trade candy for prizes. Some examples include:
      • Cash in exchange for each pound of candy
      • Coupons or discounts to local businesses
      • Tickets to the movies
      • Oral hygiene kits and electric toothbrushes
    • Move America Forward is a great idea to donate candy to our troops.

World Diabetes Day – November 14

  • Display posters, signs, and or photos around your office. Your TV monitors that are patient facing, are great tools to display graphics. Educate about the relationship between oral health and systemic disease, such as diabetes.
  • Consider having one of these flyers printed professionally and inserted into every new patient take home folder.
